WHAT: 1st Annual USMC Sgt. Mecot Camara Memorial Ruck / Hike / Walk. All proceeds go directly to the American Brother Foundation. The distance from beginning to end is 9.5 miles. Participants are encouraged to walk, hike or ruck, with or without a backpack, as many miles as comfortable.
WHY: This non-profit organization was created in honor of USMC Sgt. Mecot Camara killed in the Beirut Bombing of 1983. We provide scholarships to children of military families and active duty military & we are currently creating a documentary to honor those that served in Beirut from 1982 - 1984. WHERE: This ruck will start at Bluestone State Park and end at Pipestem Resort State Park in beautiful Hinton, West Virginia. Visit WVStateParks.com for directions and accommodations. This Bluestone Turnpike Trail runs for 9.5 miles from Bluestone State Park to Pipestem Resort State Park along the river. It is an easy grade that follows the path of an old riverbank road.
WHEN: The ruck will take place on September 24, 2022. Check in will be open at 8:00am. Start time is 9:00am.
